Manila
Small gardens and old trees in the capital
The City of Manila is the most densely populated city in the Philippines, according to the 2020 census, and its gardens show it. Many are a front strip, an inner courtyard, a roof deck or a line of pots on a balcony. Soil and plants come in through a narrow gate or up a stairwell, so we plan each job around access, parking and where the cuttings will go.
Manila also keeps some of the oldest homes and trees in the metro. Santa Ana was the one district spared from destruction in the Second World War, and Malate stayed largely residential until the 1970s. Around homes like these, the work is mostly careful pruning and bringing a tired garden back, done by crews who come in from our Quezon City base.

Local notes
How Manila shapes the work
Services that suit Manila properties
Garden maintenance and tree care suit most Manila homes, and roof deck or container planting comes under garden installation. Maintenance, lawn care, lot clearing and tree care get a fixed price online, and design, planting and hardscaping start with an online estimate and a paid site visit. Campus grounds in the University Belt are commercial work: an online estimate, confirmed at a paid site visit.
Tree permits go through DENR-NCR
Cutting a tree in Manila needs a permit. DENR-NCR evaluates each application and coordinates with the local government, and for naturally grown trees the rules ask for a certificate of no objection from the barangay captain. The permit is not part of our price. We cut only after it is issued, and stumps are left at ground level with no grinding.
Flood-prone roads and low gardens
MMDA flood data has named España Boulevard in Sampaloc the most easily flooded road in Metro Manila, and Taft Avenue, Quirino Avenue and Rizal Avenue made the same list. In low districts we set new beds above the walkway and keep drains and weep holes clear. Turf and soil work waits until standing water from a habagat downpour has gone.
Big trees beside old houses
In Santa Ana, a big alagao tree stands in front of one ancestral house and partly hides its facade. Trees that close to old walls, gutters and roofs need pruning that lightens the crown without leaving large wounds. Many of the large trees Metro Manila residents call acacia are in fact rain trees, which spread wide over roofs and streets.
